Our Story

Built for women who are
done playing small.

The Powers Mindset is a mental health collective founded on one belief: every woman deserves therapy and support that actually meets her where she is, and helps her get somewhere better.

Who We Are

A different kind
of practice.

The Powers Mindset was founded by Kristen Powers, LCSW, MPH, a therapist and consultant with over 20 years of experience across crisis intervention, oncology support, university counseling, and private practice. She built this practice around a simple frustration: too many high-achieving women were getting therapy that felt passive, slow, and disconnected from their real lives.

We don't believe in sitting with your feelings indefinitely. We believe in understanding them, building real tools around them, and getting you moving again. Our sessions are warm and supportive, but they're also direct, practical, and grounded in what actually works.

We serve women across Illinois, virtually statewide across Illinois. Whether you're navigating anxiety, burnout, major life transitions, or the mental weight of juggling everything at once, we're here to help you not just cope, but thrive.

Our Credentials

Our team holds licensure in clinical social work (LCSW) and professional counseling (LPC), with specializations in cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma-informed care. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and private pay.

What We Stand For

Our values shape
every session.

No toxic positivity.

We don't tell you to just think positive. We help you understand what's hard and build real tools to work through it, honestly and without judgment.

Practical over passive.

Every session leaves you with something concrete. Strategies, insights, and frameworks you can use the moment you walk out the door.

Accessible by design.

We accept BCBS Illinois and offer virtual sessions statewide because good therapy shouldn't depend on your zip code or schedule.

Affirming & inclusive.

We are LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to creating a space where all women feel seen, respected, and genuinely supported.

Whole-person care.

We look at all of you, your career, relationships, identity, and history, not just your symptoms. Real healing happens in context.

Beyond the session.

From digital resources to corporate wellness, we believe mental health support shouldn't be limited to 50 minutes a week.
